The end of the snow day
March 17, 2022
Last month, HCS announced students will not have the day off when it snows for the remainder of the year. They are concerned students will not have enough time in class if they cancel school for snow days.
When polled, 75% of students said they should not have to attend school virtually when it snows. Students who oppose the new measure feel worried that others will miss work and the teachers will bring their grades down.
However, there are a few students that feel like this is a good idea because you won’t have to catch up on work. When asked about the new snow day policy, one student shared, “Yes, it would be nice to have a day off, but catching up after a day off is always a hassle.”
The new snow day policy may not be popular, but it may be a better alternative than having to extend the school year. As the weather warms up, the new policy is unlikely to impact students this year. Next year, however, may be a different story.

I hope when it snows (lightly) we could do virtual however when its snowing (hard) i don’t think that we should go virtual and take it as a break day and i personally don’t think we should make up days since we are not the ones controlling the weather.

I honestly feel like it is unfair to the students.

They made a zoom for snow days and it hasn’t snow at all so I mean they kinda made the zoom for no reason

I hope this doesn’t go into future school years.
