Fall is here! What do you have planned? Where do you plan to go, and how do you think you’ll spend the festive season? Can’t think of anything? Here are a few of our staff’s suggestions on how to spend the season:
1. Attend a fall festival
Ah yes! The fall season is finally here! And what better way to enjoy the fall season than going to a couple of local festivals? Take time on the weekend to hang out with friends and family, unwind and get away from all your other responsibilities, and enjoy the lights and activities to do at fall festivals. Fall Ball Extravaganza, Fall Show Out, and Fall Swing are some of the many fall festivals that are out now for your enjoyment!
2. Carve some pumpkins
Decorate your porch or house by carving your pumpkins into weird frightful faces, making science experiments, and making your ghastly gourds glow in the dark. The process of picking the perfect pumpkin to take home and creating crafty carved faces is an experience in itself. If you’re super into science, there is an even better way to spook your peers around you with a scary science trick. WeAreGreenBay shows you all the tips and tricks to make a pretty petrifying puking pumpkin (gross)! Now that you’re in the know on how to make your gourd really glow, you should be a great pumpkin carving pro!
3. Camp for a weekend (or evening)
Like the great outdoors? You’re in luck, as you’ll like them even more this season since the weather is cool, calm, and collected, and the scenery is sweet and serene. This is the best time for camping. Camping does not just come with spending time with your family and being outside away from phones, but also all the other things that make the experience all the more worth it. S’mores are one of them: those ooey gooey delectable wedges of goodness that are made from simple store supplies for the ultimate combination. Sweet snacks not your style? You could always bundle up to a bonfire with your buddies for more quality time outside.
4. Make some fall treats
A classic and timely item traditional to the fall season, making this delicious treat is something everyone should have the privilege of trying. If you haven’t tried one, don’t worry! You don’t need to go out of your way to go get some candy apples from someplace else when you get you some fresh apples and sugared candy and bake them at home; it’s super easy, shouldn’t take long, and will give you the chance to experience the fall season candy like you’re in a movie.
5. Dress up for a costume party
Be spooky, silly, or stunning during costume parties, as there are a variety of options you can choose from when coming up with a creative costume combo. If you do not have time to spend a grueling amount of hours to create a costume from scratch, you can always resort to going to Spirit Halloween.
6. Travel to Trunk or Treat
Travel from trunk to trunk and loot up on your favorite sugary goods with each costumed car you greet. There are a variety of ways to celebrate the day of halloween. Not able to go door to door pestering people for their treats? Well now you can do it this way but now it’s for cars. This activity is a simpler approach when it comes to collecting candy. This is great for younger kids who are experiencing their first time. Some decorated vehicles even come with little activities for you to participate in other than grabbing candy and leaving.
7. Lose yourself in a corn maze
The spookiest thing to do in the fall! If you want to skip the baking and get right to the scary stuff of the fall season, this is the right place to start. Look for local corn mazes and join in the fun with the way you can be spooked and thrilled with the fun prizes that are in the mazes. Never fear; bring your friends along so they can enjoy the fun, or bring your family to spend time with them in this spooky attraction. Here is a website that can give you a better insight on the local corn mazes you can join into before the fall season is up!
8. Hype yourself up for Howl-O-Scream
Here it is, the spookiest event of all! This event is something that every local of Virginia knows about. This amusement park has rides, games, haunted houses, and delicious food. It’s available until Nov. 3 this year for your enjoyment. This is the main attraction for every fall season; this event is something that should be enjoyed by all. The haunted houses have been upgraded, and there are a couple new haunted houses like Clown Town, Monster Manor, The Bash, Stalker Street, and the returning favorite, Ripper Row!
